![]() Photography has always been a love for me since I was very young. I grew up in a very artistic family. My grandmother was an oil painter and my grandfather loved photography. She always painted when they took trips to the desert and he always had his camera in his hands and strapped around his neck, ready for what ever adventure headed there way. For me, photography allows me to feel incredibly free, at ease and artistic. Being behind the camera brings me great peace. I was asked recently by a member of the, Inspire, Learn & Network for Photographers San Diego group what my motivation was. My answer was simple, my daughter is! I know that it's my soul responsibility to show her what it's like first hand to be a female business owner and a photographer all at the same time. It's not all fun and games, it's not always going to be easy but it's an amazing feeling to be able to do what you love and do it well. The fact that my beautiful daughter wants to follow in my footsteps makes me so incredibly proud. She is always asking questions about photography, marketing and watching me interact with my clients. This weekend, while enjoying a relaxing day at the winery and celebrating my boyfriends birthday with our friends and family my daughter asked to use my Nikon D810, as she often does. Mind you, she has her own camera but didn't bring it and was really bummed about her choice to leave it at home. You should have seen my 12 year old daughter daughter in action with my bestfriends daughter who is 6 years old. I walked around the corner and found these two in the middle of a portrait session. It was amazing and let me tell you, my daughter knows how to rock my Nikon D810 on manual setting! I captured these photos of her, did a little behind the scenes of her and her model. I love that she took the time to show her model the images she took, they really got a kick out of their session. I'll be uploading them this week and allowing Madison to edit them. Yes, she used Photoshop and Lightroom too. Stay tuned for them to be posted on Facebook and possibly a guest blog by Madison!

I love that she's getting into photography and learning the ropes so early in life! I wish I had a mentor to teach me when I first fell in love with photography at the age of 10. I can't wait to see the photos that she took! :)

This is so great! I have three daughters and my youngest is so interested in photography. Your daughter must have felt so proud and empowered that you trusted and encouraged her with your camera :)
